Satoko Fujii (born October 9, 1958, Tokyo) is a Japanese avant-garde jazz pianist and composer. Fujii started playing the piano at age 4, receiving classical training until she was 20, when she became interested in improvisation and jazz. She studied at Berklee in Boston in the mid-80s, and since then has performed and recorded around the world in a wide variety of settings, from solo piano to small ensembles to big bands based in both the US and Japan.
