Steven John Wilson (born 3 November 1967) is an English musician and record producer, most associated with the progressive rock genre. Currently a solo artist, he became known as the founder, lead guitarist, singer, and songwriter of the band Porcupine Tree, but he has numerous other projects both as a musician and as a producer. As a solo artist, he has released music as Bass Communion and The I.E.M. (Incredible Expanding Mindfuck) as well as under his own name. Porcupine Tree started as a solo project and evolved into a band that became Wilson's primary vehicle from 1992 to 2009. Wilson has also worked with a number of other artists as both producer and player, including No-Man, Opeth, Blackfield, Storm Corrosion, and others.
