Profile
Peter Brian Gabriel (born 13 February 1950) is an English singer and composer who was a founding member of Genesis, and after leaving that band, has gone on to a massively successful solo career and worked on the soundtracks for a number of motion pictures. He founded Genesis in 1967 with fellow Charterhouse School pupils Tony Banks, Anthony Phillips, Mike Rutherford, and drummer Chris Stewart, and was the lead singer and primary lyricist for the band, in addition to contributing flute, percussion and theatrical visuals. He left the band in 1975 after the artistic difficulties surrounding the production of the ambitious concept album The Lamb Lies down on Broadway. His first solo album was released in 1977, and in general he has pursued a more song-oriented path than the elaborately composed music of Genesis during his tenure. He was among the earliest popular Western artists to incorporate music from Africa into his music, working extensively with artists such as Youssou N'Dour, Ayub Ogada, and others.

Scott Walker RIP – Noel Scott Engel, better known as Scott Walker, was one of the most intriguing and enigmatic musical figures in the second half of the 20th Century. His strange career started with The Walker Brothers, an American pop group that featured no one named Walker and no brothers. After moving to England in 1965, they had a series of hit singles. Scott's solo work started with Scott in 1967. Starting in the 80s, his work took an increasingly avant-garde turn. » Read more
