An Introduction to Schizo Fun Addict Cover art

Schizo Fun Addict was born on January 1, 2000, meaning the band is now 25 years old. They made their first appearance on Fruits de Mer in April 2008 with their freaky sci-fi cover of George Martin’s “Theme One” b/w their cover of The Small Faces’ “Ogden’s Nut Gone Flake,” the first record released by FdM. This New Jersey band has also covered Goblin’s iconic “Suspiria,” along with the original Nirvana and The Sorrows.  This two-CD retrospective, An Introduction to Schizo Fun Addict, pulls together their FdM singles, albums, covers, originals, and some exclusive tracks. It may even be safe to say that there would not be an FdM label without Schizo Fun Addict. The 36 tracks assemble cuts from FdM releases Volume One seven inch, Suspiria EP, Postcards from the Deep box set, The Sun Yard LP, Sunny Spells EP, Head Music 2 compilation, Fate Chaser lathe-cut, the Promo 32 lathe-cut, Love Your Enemies LP, The Last Wave LP, Awesome Lovin’ digital single, El Shoegaze Bossa Nova LP, and previously unreleased tracks: “Rainbow Chaser,” “Starry Eyes,” “The Hills Are Alive with Swordfish,” and “Ogden’s Nut Gone Flake (Flake Mix).” This retrospective is an excellent introduction to Schizo Fun Addict as well allowing a larger audience to experience their freaky take on indie psych on their limited and sold out releases, especially the lathe-cut tracks. Though Schizo Fun Addict began their FdM journey with covers, the majority of the tracks on this retrospective are original tracks, and what a joy that is! If you have never experienced Schizo Fun Addict, An Introduction to Schizo Fun Addict is your ticket to their timeless magical musical world.
