In the Summer of 2022, the Schizos and Fruits de Mer Records released a lathe cut of three songs as a teaser for their upcoming album Love Your Enemies. That album was released this spring and it contains the song “Fate Chaser” from the lathe cut. The other nine songs on the new album include a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Over the Hills and Far Away” plus original tunes. These dream pop songs feature lots of jangly guitar, resonance, and trippy atmospheres. Some of the songs, like “Fate Chaser,” provide a sunny outlook on life, while others like “Meet You in the Wind” show a darker and sinister side of Schizo Fun Addict. The Zeppelin cover is quite an ingenious and mellow take on this song, one you would never recognize if you weren’t paying close attention to the music and lyrics. This LP was quite a limited edition of only 70 copies, which only a few lucky people were able to snag. And full disclosure, I was not one, but I received the promo CDr. Love Your Enemies shows Schizo Fun Addicts continued musical growth. And if you were not one of the lucky 70, you can still experience the music on Bandcamp. Highly recommended for dream pop fans who like their music with a bit of an edge.
