Nektar — Journey to the Other Side

Yes, it’s another live Nektar album, this one recorded in 2023. I previously wrote about their 2020 live release, Live from the Wildey Theatre, which was released as a video and download. This album documents a show from 2023 at the Dunellen Theatre in New Jersey, and contains many of the same tracks on a 2CD set with or without a BluRay audio disc. You’ll get renditions of “A Tab in the Ocean,” “Skywriter,” “Show Me the Way,” and such early tracks as “A Day in the Life of a Preacher” and “Fidgety Queen.” There’s also a complete version of “Remember the Future” and half of “Recycled.” Most of these tracks will likely already exist in live versions in the libraries of Nektar fans, as they’re included on various of the dozen or so other live Nektar albums. All I can say is that the recording quality is very good, as are the performances. For a Nektar novice, I would generally recommend checking out the original studio albums from the 70s, but if that’s a daunting task, Journey to the Other Side serves as a kind of Greatest Hits Live (which of course was the title of a 2002 release).
