Jim McCarty has a long musical history beginning in the early 1960s as the drummer of the seminal rock/blues band The Yardbirds. In the late 1960s he formed Renaissance with Keith Relf, also of The Yardbirds. Later formed the band Shoot, then Illusion, Box of Frogs, Stairway, then reformed The Yardbirds, which continues to this day, and concurrently has released a number of solo albums and collaborations.
