Wizrd — Elements
(Karisma KAR286, 2024, CD / LP / DL)

by Jon Davis, Published 2026-10-13

This is just a quick note to look back at an outstanding album that deserves recognition. Back in 2024, Norway’s Wizrd released their second album, Elements, and it’s a real gem. Complex enough to please any prog fan and catchy enough to appeal to listeners who think prog is too esoteric or obscure. These nine tracks zip along with great riffs, amazing vocals, and superb keyboards, mostly of the vintage-sounding variety. If you’re one of the many that’s lately discovered Brass Camel, you would do well to check out these guys, who are very much in the same general area, though with their own sound. I don’t know what “GT, Me & My 6610” means, but it’s a great song to start an album, full of ideas and just plain fun. When they indulge in some sequenced synthesizer to back “Fylkesvei 33” it’s a backbone used to build up an edifice that is equal parts melodic and trippy. Just do yourself a favor and give Wizrd a listen.
