Whispers of Granite is the new collaboration between Norwegian singer, soundscaper, writer, composer, musician, and producer Trude Eidtang (White Willow and When Mary) and German multi-instrumentalist (keyboards, samplers, drum programming, guitar, bass, and mandolin) and composer Andreas Hack (Coronal Rain, Feeling of Presence, Frequency Drift, Haven of Echoes, and Rachel's Memory) based in Bayreuth, Germany. Both Trude and Andreas have been leaving their mark on music since 2008. Their debut album, Liquid Stone, fuses melancholic folk, indie, and progressive rock enhanced by Trude’s strong vocals, a blend of Kate Bush, Sally Oldfield, and Crystal Jacqueline. Trude is quite the chanteuse! Her haunting and expressive vocals contribute to the strong emotional tone of the album. Andreas is just as amazing in his own right, the master of atmosphere and complexity, crafting songs that embody the essence of 70s progressive rock, dreamy melancholic urban prog, pop, and eerie floating music. The collaboration between Trude and Andreas melds their individual strengths to create a compelling and immersive musical experience, a set of eight songs with lush, atmospheric textures. The album title Liquid Stone is a metaphor for the tension between fluidity and permanence as seen by comparing raw human emotion with the world’s rigid structures. Augmenting this musical duo are guest musicians Wolfgang Ostermann (drums), Michael Fischer (bass on “One More Reason”), Marek Arnold (saxophone on “Ocean Maker”), and Paul Sadler (guitar solos on “Endlessly” and “Silver Green”). Liquid Stone is an impressive album, well worthy of your notice.
