Troka — Troka

Another NorthSide folkie, and one of their more traditional outfits; between fiddler Matti Makela and violin / viola player Ville Ojamen there are sure a lot of bowed instruments here. The music resembles Irish traditional to an extent that listeners will probably find themselves becoming more interested in the common roots of all European folk music — after all there is obviously a common chord between groups as geographically removed as Troka, Malicorne, the Chieftains, and Kolinda. The experimentation is not what is important here, the music with accordion, harmonium, and double bass will probably be of more interest to those interested in roots music. A nice job, not one of the more interesting groups on the label, but definitely a proficient execution.
