Strange Horizon — Skur 14

Norwegian blytung skandinavisk (Scandinavian heavy metal) rockers Strange Horizon are back with their second album, Skur 14. In the midst of the pandemic after the release of their first album, Strange Horizon joined forces with Eirik Arnstem of Kryptograf and began working in the rehearsal building Skur 14, hence the album title. Skur 14 continues Strange Horizon’s love of heavy metal, expanding their sonic palette to include faster and more aggressive songs, including progressive and atmospheric moments. The opening track, “The Road,” is a killer and sets the tone for the album. Consisting of only four tracks spanning 33 minutes, Skur 14 is more of an extended EP experience than a full-blown album. The tracks drip with dark power chords, heavy thunderous bass, and progressive guitar lines. If you enjoy headbanger stoner rock that straddles metal and progressive music, you will certainly enjoy the evolution of this new release.
