Roz Vitalis — Dedication to BigNick
(Bandcamp no#, 2025, DL)

Dedication to BigNick Cover art

For their new album Dedication to Big Nick, the Russian band Roz Vitalis is the lineup of Ivan Rozmainsky (conception, arrangement, synths, grand piano, harpsichord, and bells), Dmitry Chichagov (sound effects, arrangement, and mixing), Alexey Gorshkov (trumpet), Olga Grigorieva (mixing), Ruslan Kirillov (bass guitar), Vladislav Korotkikh (flute), Serghei Liubcenco (guitars, rubab, and doira), Max Lokosov (bass guitar), Igor Luniov (slide ukulele), Leonid Perevalov (clarinets and bass clarinets), Philip Semenov (drums, sound effects, and arrangement), and Evgeny Trefilov (drums and mixing). Given this eclectic mix of instruments you may have an inkling of what to expect on this new release.  Dedication to Big Nick is a nine-part musical dedication to Russian producer, radio host, and podcaster Nikolai Bogaichuk, who passed away in 2023.  Some of the tracks are abridged or extended versions of earlier Roz Vitalis tracks: “The Tragedy of the Ancient Spring” from 2017 and “The Threesunny Light Power” from 2004. Overall the album has a neo-classical, dreamy, and melancholy atmosphere. The album tracks were recorded and mixed by different people at different times. But Dedication to Big Nick is not a compilation, it is a concept album about the creative path of a man who had an endless love for music. So sit back, close your eyes, and immerse yourself in this lovely music.
