The Legacy Tour 2022 Cover art

When Annie Haslam and Renaissance toured in 2022, they called it the “Legacy Tour,” highlighting music from throughout Haslam’s history, going all the way back to the early 70s and including some of the fan favorites. The tour also celebrated Haslam’s lasting legacy as the group’s lead singer as she reached the age of 75 by including tracks from her own albums. The Legacy Tour 2022 is a 2CD recording from that tour, featuring Haslam backed by Leo Traversa (bass), Frank Pagano (drums), Mark Lambert (guitar), Geoffrey Langley (keyboards), and Rave Tesar (keyboards) along with an extended ensemble of strings, woodwinds, and brass. Aside from such Renaissance classics as “Carpet of the Sun” and “Running Hard,” the repertoire leans heavily on Haslam’s solo releases, starting with “Reaching Out,” originally recorded in 1976 but never released until Woman Transcending in 2006. This sets The Legacy Tour 2022 apart from other Renaissance live albums, of which there have been a good many over the years. That being said, this release is clearly aimed at the band’s long-term fans, and does not make a good introduction to the band (or Haslam’s solo work, for that matter). A newbie would be better served by going back to the original albums in the first half of the 70s — or the classic Live at Carnegie Hall (1976).
