Quimper — Dejado
(Bandcamp no#, 2020, DL)

Dejado Cover art

The enjoyable and ever prolific Quimper have released another EP, Dejado, 29 minutes of avant electronics over ten tracks. For this musical adventure, the electronics dominate, with vocals appearing on one or two tracks. Drum machines, electronic percussion, analog synths, and sequencers carry the day. There is a little of everything thrown in this go around. The opening track, “Same But Worse,” could be the soundtrack for a 50s sci fi film; “In Vertical” is a bluesy electric piano, synth, and drum machine piece; “Past Point” is a smooth analog synth and sequencer track; and “Squeaky Beak” uses a repeated sequence of crystalline tinkling electronics and bongos, to name but a few examples. And as always, the magnanimous Quimper provide free downloads of much of their music on their Bandcamp page.
