More Experience — Horizons of Events
(Bandcamp Old Hippie Records, 2025, CD / DL)

It’s been a few years since the last release from More Experience — Electric Laboratory of High Space Experience came out in 2021 — but it’s no surprise that their basic style remains intact. If you think of the trippier aspects of Pink Floyd during the time before Dark Side of the Moon, and then add in sitar and tabla, you’ve got a good idea what to expect. Another reasonable reference is Embryo, where psychedelic rock met percussion and scales from around the world, especially the Middle East and India. This time out, we get only four tracks, three of which are over ten minutes in length. The pieces drift in a leisurely fashion from one section to the next, sometimes dropping to ambience with droning organ and spacey noises and then building up to wild guitar solos, which do not resemble Dave Gilmour’s playing at all. The guitarist is band leader Piotr Dudzikowski, who also plays keyboards and a variety of stringed instruments not detailed (though sitar is obviously on the list), and the group features returning members Janek Dudzikowski (drums, percussion), Marcin Grabowski (bass), and Eryk Paluch (vocals, including throat singing). Also on board is newcomer Flip Gomela on drums and percussion — I don’t know if the two drummers appear together or on separate tracks. Given the length of the tracks, this is not the kind of psychedelic rock that’s punchy and to the point. It’s more about the textured jamming, and luckily it’s not all about the guitar solos. Dudzikowski utilizes a range of keyboards, from organs of various flavors to electric piano to synths. The constant flow of change keeps the music interesting, worthy of blissed-out tripping or active attention. Horizons of Events is another solid entry from Poland’s top psychedelic band.
