Les Grys-Grys — Milk Cow Blues
(State , 2020, 7")

Milk Cow Blues is the new single out on State Records by French garage / R & B deviants Les Grys-Grys. There is not a lot of information about the band, even though they have been around since 2010, and I am tempted to draw a comparison of their name to gris-gris (a voodoo amulet). Their new single contains two strong in-your-face, snotty songs. Side A is “Milk Cow Blues,” a Mississippi Delta hard blues rocker with a fiery beat heavily influenced by psych, punk, and garage bands. Their bold devil-may-care attitude reminds me of The Pretty Things in their early days. The flip side is “So Long,” another hard-rocking psych punk song with jangling rhythm guitar and a great guitar solo. So if you are longing for raw kick-ass music, you won’t be disappointed by Les Grys-Grys and Milk Cow Blues.
