Kerrs Pink — Art of Complex Simplicity

I used to really like this band in their early days, both of their first two albums are great Scandinavian Camel-like rock albums with great melodic guitar. I was quite disappointed with their third album, which is on Musea, I found it lacked character and seemed to be a symphonic rock that lost its individuality in an attempt to be more accessible. Their new album seems to be an attempt to duplicate their last album, all except maybe the concept. There are a few hints back to the Scandinavian folk references that filled their early albums, yet mostly what we have here again is simple symphonic rock with more keys than guitars, a ton of guests, and a lack of distinguishable characteristics. With all due respect, I believe this will find its crowd, as its accessibility fits right into the vein of music that Roine Stolt's Flower Kings currently inhabit, but fortunately Kerrs Pink aren't liable to pander that far to the mainstream. Again, I'm not inclined to this, yet it may go over a storm with the neo crowd.
