Jasmeno — Jasmeno

Jasmeno is the musical project by Polish musician Slavomir Maria Nietupski and the promo material stated that Jasmeno is for fans of Depeche Mode, Pink Floyd, Alphaville, Enigma, Tangerine Dream, Schiller, The Doors, and Jean-Michel Jarre. That sounded interesting and I was intrigued. Unfortunately the debut self-titled album does not live up to the hype. I do not hear any of these influences and by and large I hated the album. Most of the ten tracks are a lackluster mixture of electronics and alternative rock. The exception is “Reptile” with its martial beat and New Wave vibe. In all good conscience I cannot recommend this self-indulgent album. The album’s only redeeming value is the grungy cover art.
