André Duchesne — Le Temps des Bombes
(Ambiances Magnétiques AM 002, 1984/1996, CD)

Le Temps des Bombes Cover art

I covered the Coventum reissues in a recent issue of Exposé, and this album, whose protagonist was a pivotal member of Conventum, acts complimentarily. This is Duchesne's first album, a solo album with many of the folk, contemporary, and RIO influences that Conventum had, but obviously compositions of a single artist. Many of Duchesne's Conventum bandmates are here as are other guests, luminaries of Canadian progressive music like René Lussier and Jean Derome. If you liked the Conventum music, or have backtracked through many titles on the Ambiances Magnetiques label, you will get the picture — music best left undescribed: strange, very French Canadian, and very artistic.
