Unbeltipo started as a solo project of guitarist Tsuneo Imahori after Tipographica broke up. He was later joined by bassist Mitsuro Nasumo of Altered States, Daimonji, Korekyojinn, and more and drummer Yasuo Sano (whom he worked with in Yoko Kanno's Seatbelts) to form a performing entity.
