Profile
New Trolls is an Italian progressive rock band, known for their fusion of rock and classical music. The group was formed in the mid-60s from a previous band called The Trolls; original members were Vittorio De Scalzi (guitar, vocals), Nico Di Palo (guitar, vocals), Mauro Chiarugi (keyboards), Giorgio D'Adamo (bass, vocals), and Gianni Belleno (drums, vocals). After two albums of Hendrix-inflected psychedelic rock, they released Concerto Grosso per i New Trolls (1971), a highly regarded fusing of rock and classical music. By 1973, tensions led to a split, with De Scalzi and Di Palo going different ways and struggling over ownership of the band's name. De Scalzi released a few more albums with the New Trolls name, while Di Palo worked with Tritons and Ibis; the two halves reconciled and resumed activity in 1975. The band has continued intermittently since then with numerous personnel changes. De Scalzi has been the constant, sometimes with Di Palo, who also formed Il Mito New Trolls.

Scott Walker RIP – Noel Scott Engel, better known as Scott Walker, was one of the most intriguing and enigmatic musical figures in the second half of the 20th Century. His strange career started with The Walker Brothers, an American pop group that featured no one named Walker and no brothers. After moving to England in 1965, they had a series of hit singles. Scott's solo work started with Scott in 1967. Starting in the 80s, his work took an increasingly avant-garde turn. » Read more
