Abarax was formed around 2003 by Howard Hanks (guitar), Dennis Grasekamp (guitar, drums, vocals), and Udo Grasekamp (keyboards), all members of the band Taste of Timeless at the time. Heavily inspired by Pink Floyd, they released their first album in 2005.
