Dreamers in a Dreamless World Cover art

What a lovely title for the new The Haven Green, aka Steve Somerset, album: Dreamers in a Dreamless World. This new album is chock full of great psychedelia from the opening chords on “Live and Learn” to the closing notes on “The Road to Utopia.” Steve poured his heart and soul into this album. Drawing inspiration from a myriad of influences and experiences, he has created a sound that is uniquely his own. I get a sense of U2’s “Sunday Bloody Sunday” on “Tell Me Again,” a bit of Simon and Garfunkel’s “For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her” on “Fallen Angels,” Bowie’s “Heroes” on “Reach for the Sky,” and Ziggy Stardust on “The Road to Utopia.” This mixture of influences plus sitar, shimmering guitars, understated Mellotron, sunshine, blue skies, and flowers make for an extremely fun and enjoyable listening experience. Some of the high points for me include the 60s dreamy fantasy horror of “La Belle Dame Sans Merci,” the edge-of-consciousness psych on “Still Dreaming,” the excellent catchy and uplifting “Reach for the Sky” with its Frippian guitar, the skillful jangle guitar work on “Tell Me Again,” the spooky Mellotron on the title track, and of course the post apocalyptic closing track, “The Road to Utopia,” with Somerset channeling his inner Bowie.  Dreamers in a Dreamless World is a unique listening experience. Each track is a masterful blend of thought-provoking lyrics, showcasing Somerset’s remarkable talent and creativity. Its infectious energy that permeates each song is sure captivate any listener.
