Sarah Perrotta — Blue to Gold
(7d Media no#, 2021, CD / DL)

Blue to Gold Cover art

Sarah Perrotta is a singer and songwriter whose primary instrument is piano. She worked with well-known drummer Jerry Marotta on Blue to Gold, which is her third or fourth album, depending on how you count Drink the Sky, which was credited to the group Outloud Dreamer. In any case, she has a good voice that moves easily from breathy to powerful, and her writing is quite capable. These nine tracks are melodic and beautifully arranged, ranging from quiet ballads to more uptempo songs, and are comparable to such artists as Paula Cole and Suzanne Vega. As such, the album seems a bit out of time rather than adhering to current fashion, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Her lyrics are uniformly good, and the melodies have enough variety to not wear on the listener. Fans of talented singer-songwriters should find Sarah Perrotta a worthy addition to their listening library.
