Oho — Ecce

This album wraps up the Oho reissue series —or at least Little Wing is approaching the bottom of the barrel. Oho's leftovers are better than many bands' studio albums, and this collection of innuendoes and oddities from 1974-75 show a band with a lot of tricks up their sleeves still. Between Okinawa and Vitamin Oho, the music here is like a direct cross of those albums, with the Zappa-like tendencies of the early Oho mixed up with the more symphonic rock orientation of their final album. The quality is variable, some of the music is in very raw form here, but tracks like "The Plague," and "Per Ipsum" show the influences of King Crimson, Genesis, and Yes coming more to the fore. Being a collection of out-takes and rarities, this album is only recommended to the collector of these types of things, the newcomer is recommended to give Vitamin Oho a try first. Still, there's some very high-quality music on this CD.
