Gustavo Denouard — Silent Morning
(Projekt no#, 2025, DL)

Silent Morning Cover art

After many years of using the moniker Microscopic White Noise, in 2024, with his debut release on Projekt, Mysterious Wind, Argentine ambient sound sculptor Gustavo Denouard began using his own name on his releases. Silent Morning represents the follow-up, a powerful yet contemplative collection of meditative ambient pieces that draw their inspiration from the natural world, a set of immersive experiences that begin with the pre-dawn light and continue through the morning and on to the mid-day. His compositions are brought to life mostly with electronics, flutes, synthesizers, percussives, and heavily processed voices, creating sweeping soundworlds that shimmer with beauty and reflect a quiet introspective solitude. “Red Dawn” grows from the darkness that existed before it, slowly filling the morning with luminosity as it seeks to make itself visible, sweeping across the expansive sky, introducing various elements of the tranquility of early morning, growing steadily as it proceeds forward. As we peer into a world of delicate detail, “First Tone” evokes clarity and subtle beauty as a massive swirling ambient soundworld lurks just beyond the horizon and under the surface, like free flowing beauty, as it proceeds to its near-twelve minute conclusion. The imagination is piqued, but “Black Bird’s Song” eases the listener back into a gentle world of spectral beauty where the mind can rest  easily on a soft pillow of breeze. While the listener may find peace in this organic serene world, it follows a very natural path that evolves slowly and gently, without the use of sequencers. “Silence in the Cave” highlights curious percussive sounds and vast, dense textural walls that scintillate brilliantly, hardly silent at all, but full of life and subtle nuances, reaching for lights and colors in the darkness. Slowly emerging from the cave we find ourselves back in the light of a “Cloudy Midday,” where vivid sounds, brilliant colors and deep bass stirrings move the listener into other worlds. With Silent Morning Denouard has created a follow-up that eclipses its predecessor and truly deserves to be heard.
