Exit — Dove Va la Tua Strada?
(Black Widow BWR257, 2025, CD / LP)
by Henry Schneider, Published 2026-03-01
Exit was an Italian rock band that formed in Trieste, Italy in the early 70s. In 1973 they recorded their one and only album, Dove va la tua strada?, but it was not released. After 52 years Black Widow Records has decided to release this archival material. Exit was Ilario Sfecci (vocals), Goran Tavčar (guitar), Paolo Bassi (bass), and Euro Cristiani (drums). The sound quality is a bit odd — the vocals are clear but the instruments all sound muffled. The album consists of six tracks ranging from five to twelve minutes in duration. There are elements of hard blues rock, progressive rock, and jazz rock peppered throughout the album. Some of the music is a bit harsh and dissonant, and at other times calm and melodic with some choral parts in the New Trolls style. The long tracks go through various changes from raucous rock to calm interludes. Dove va la tua strada? is a snapshot in time of the early Italian rock scene, though I cannot honestly say that there is anything on the album that truly jumps out and grabs my attention. This is somewhat a difficult album to experience and enjoy. It may only be of interest to Italian progressive rock completists.
