Tales of Belle, Part 2: Unveiled by Fire Cover art

When we last heard from Adventure, the poor Norwegian immigrant Belle hunted for wealth in the US and finished with the suspicious death of her first husband and her move to LaPorte, Indiana. With Tales of Belle, Part 2 - Unveiled by Fire, Norwegian prog rockers Adventure continue with the death of Belle Gunness’ second husband, another man seeking prosperity with the widowed Belle, only to disappear. Then there is the horrendous fire on her farm, the gruesome discoveries in the grounds after the fire, the absurd media theater that took place, the trial of the farmhand, and finally his confession. And ultimately there was no confirmation if Belle had died in the fire. All told across ten new songs that incorporate the golden era of 70s symphonic and cinematic prog, Mike Oldfield, Supertramp, Gentle Giant, Genesis, and Italian prog. Soaring emotional guitar, subtle Hammond organ, and analog synth passages are the heart of Adenture’s sound, augmented by beautiful bucolic flute and acoustic guitar. The dark nature of Belle's story comes through in the music and lyrics “Nobody knows now how many they were / she will not forget / she shows no sign of regret.” And then Adventure incorporates a pseudo-Layla riff into the courtroom trial along with some narration on “In Court.” As they did with Part 1, Adventure wrote and recorded the songs at various times during the lockdown in Norway. All-in-all, quite a nice two part prog rock opera set about one of the worst serial killers the world has seen.
