Bio / info
Témpano began as a four-piece of guitars, bass, keys and drums. Following their progressive debut Atabal-Yémal in 1979, the band was pushed toward pop music by their management, eventually securing a major label contract with CBS. The original members dropped out one by one, leaving drummer Gerardo Ubieda as the only original member by the third album. At the end of the 80s the band split up. It was thanks to the re-release of Atabal-Yémal in 2000, which by then had become much sought after by collectors, that the four original members decided to it was time to record three new songs to be included as bonus tracks. Their reunion woke their restlessness and passion for music that long ago gave birth to Témpano. Their new journey began in earnest in 2000 with the release of their first album in 20 years, Childhoods End which was quickly followed in 2002 by The Agony and the Ecstasy. As of 2017 the band has released two more albums, contributed to several multi-artist compilations, as well as several side-projects.
