Bio / info
Supertramp is an English rock band formed in London in 1969. Though their music was initially categorized as progressive rock, they later incorporated a combination of traditional rock, pop, and art rock into their music. The band's work is marked by the songwriting of founders Rick Davies and Roger Hodgson and the prominent use of Wurlitzer electric piano and saxophone. The band's initial formation included guitarist and co-writer Richard Palmer-James (billed as Richard Palmer), but he left after the debut album, before the band hit its stride, which happened with their third album, Crime of the Century. The following three albums were all highly successful, and although the band carried on until 1988, their biggest hits were behind them. 1996 saw the first of several reunions, though new studio material has been sparse.
