Bio / info

Alexander Lee "Skip" Spence (April 18, 1946 – April 16, 1999) was a Canadian-born American singer, songwriter, and musician. He played drums on the first Jefferson Airplane album, but was fired from the band and formed Moby Grape, where he played guitar. After that band's second album, drug and mental health issues arose and he left in 1969. He recorded his solo album, Oar, that same year, after which he was sporadically active musically. He died in 1999 of lung cancer.
