Bio / info
The Crome Syrcus is a psychedelic band formed in Seattle in 1966. Rod Pilloud (drums), Ted Shreffler (keyboards), Lee Graham (vocals, bass, flute), John Gaborit (guitar), and Dick Powell (keyboards, vocals) were the original members, though James Plano, a high school friend of Gaborit and Powell, took over on drums after returning from a stint in the military in 1968. They released their debut album in 1968 and toured the US, opening for such bands as The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Iron Butterfly, and the Byrds. The group also worked with the New York City Center Ballet on adaptations of existing music as well as original pieces for dance. The group disbanded in 1973 having never released a second album, though members have stayed in contact and performed occasionally since then.
