Badfinger is a rock band formed in Swansea, Wales in 1961 as The Iveys. They relocated to London in 1966 and became the first group other than The Beatles signed to Apple Records, changing their name to Badfinger in the process. Their 1969 single "Come and Get It" was a big success worldwide, and they achieved even greater notoriety when their song "Without You" became a huge hit for Harry Nilsson. Success was short-lived, however, as management problems led to a bad financial situation and a splintering of the band. After the 1975 suicide of member Pete Ham, the group was dropped from Warner Bros. Records and their Apple albums deleted from distribution. There was a brief reunion in 1979, then another breakup which resulted in two competing bands using the Badfinger name. Long-time member Tom Evans (a co-writer of "Without You" with Ham) committed suicide in 1983 after further disputes and lawsuits over the band's finances. After that, Joey Molland led versions of the band with varying personnel until his death in 2025.
