La Morte del Sole Cover art

Fungus Family’s new album La Morte del Sole marks the beginning of a new direction for the band. Italian lyrics, gritty vocals, and a harder and more aggressive sound characterize the new album. There are some definite standout moments on the La Morte del Sole: “37 Nani da Giardino,” “Destino Stabilito,” and “Sei ciò che Hai.” The music is a mixture of prog rock, hard rock, and dark heavy metal. There is a similarity to Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” percussive guitar and bass chords on “Sei ciò che Hai.” Over the band’s twenty-plus years the personnel has changed. The current line up is Caio (drums and backing vocals), ZerotheHero (bass, atmospherics, and backing vocals), Dorian Deminstrel (vocals and guitar), and Fuzz Caorsi (lead guitar and backing vocals) plus guest musicians Agostino Macor (organ and Mellotron), Fabio Cuomo (piano and synths), Fabio “Cloud” Colombo (lead guitar on “Il Vento Divino”), Phill Foccis (solo on “Lasciami Dormire”), Roberto “Anello” Ferrino (recitation on “Sei ciò che hai”), and La Della (voice on “Gabbia di Miele”). If you enjoy bombastic aggressive music with excellent lead guitar and bass, you will be pleased with Fungus Family’s new album La Morte del Sole.
