As a music major at James Madison University, he had the good fortune to meet Stan Whitaker and became part of what would be a fantastic musical journey that has lasted nearly four decades. His work with Happy the Man led him to explore many aspects of the music business, his favorite of which became the recording studio. Crafty Hands, named after a Happy the Man album, became the name for his own recording studio in 1999. He also founded Wyatt Acoustics, a company that builds beautifully crafted custom speaker systems. Pursuant to his work with Happy the Man, he was (along with Stan Whitaker) a founding member of the groups Pedal Giant Animals and Oblivion Sun. In 2019 Wyatt released his long awaited Zeitgeist album featuring a number of musicians from Oblivion Sun, Happy the Man and others, which included his "Perelandra Symphony in D-Flat Major."
