Grand Slam was formed by former Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott in 1984. The group developed from his backing band on his 1983 Scandinavia tour. They recorded a number of demos, but failed to secure label interest, and after Lynott's death in 1986, they disbanded. Two members, Mark Stanway and Laurence Archer, revived a new version of the band in 2016.
