Blues Image was an blues rock band founded in Tampa, Florida in 1966 by Mike Pinera (guitar, vocals), Manuel "Manny" Bertematti (drums), Joe Lala (vocals, percussion), Emilio Garcia (keyboards), and Malcolm Jones (bass). In 1968 the band relocated to Miami, and Frank "Skip" Koonte replaced Garcia on keyboards. The group later moved to Los Angeles and signed to ATCO Records. Kent Henry joined on additional guitar for the group's second album, but Pinera left shortly after that to join Iron Butterfly, so they added singer Denny Correll for one final album before breaking up in 1970. Pinera resurrected the name decades later, sometimes billed as "Blues Image Featuring Mike Pinera."
