Now, if you thought that the lovely Miss MacPumpkin’s latest album I Left My Heart in Uncanny Valley wasn’t bizarre enough for your tastes, then this EP of remixes, All My Friends Live in Uncanny Valley — The Remixes, is just for you. Some of her dearest friends have taken six tracks from her album and reimagined and repurposed the music, taking it one step farther into Uncanny Valley. Toxic Chicken reworked the “Uncanny Valley Intro” into something that sounds more like The Residents than the original track. Then the legendary Renaldo & the Loaf chopped and channelled “The Monosaccharide Inducer” with a bizarre buzz-saw sound that cuts through the cavernous mix of the original. Vertigen, AKA Quimper, repurposed “Crawlspace” and transformed it into a Quimper track. Ken Busby added a techno beat and dance sequences to his remix of “Bright City Light” with Miss Petunia down in the mix. Commander Zillack takes us into the “Bermuda Triangle” with a funky beat and waves of white noise. And the EP closes with Spectral Fern Plaza tip-toeing through “20th Century Ghost” and adding sound bites from advertisements. So, if you are looking for something completely different, start with the original album and then graduate to the EP.
